Everything went well. We rented a Sierra 1500 from Uhaul and hooned the crap out of it. After returning it, my friend decided that he needed a new TV. He bought a 55 inch Samsung. It didn’t quite fit in the trunk of his ‘14 Civic Si.
We somehow managed to make it home from Wal Mart without the TV falling out into traffic. This was the view through the backup camera.
While he was driving the rental truck, I was following in his Civic. Good god the Civic Si is a damn fun car. It loooooooves to rev and when you hit V-tec (yo) it can really hustle. My buddy gave me the green light to really push his car hard and I did. Next weekend we plan on taking it out on some back roads and really see how it performs. Should be a damn good time.

Dude that looks rowdy. I’m hella jelly that KC has like a million more car meets/shows than STL.

Haha it didn’t seem real seeing it through the back up camera! We decided to grab my wagon and throw the TV in there for the rest of the journey. A lot more safe than hanging halfway out of the trunk.

That was one of the funniest things when I had my 13 Civic with the camera in the same place..
I hauled a bike in the back quite often and it obviously didn’t fit so the trunk was open on an angle. I shift into reverse and just see the lines going up to the sky and busted out laughing

Were the rear seats folded down?

Haha it was hilarious when he threw it into reverse backing into my driveway and the TV and rope popped up on the screen.
I love the cameras all over the civic. One on each sideview mirror make it suuuuuper easy to switch lanes and make tight turns. Honda knocked it outta the park with that.
By the way, how’s the C30 treating you? I haven’t been on oppo pretty much at all for the past month so I’m super behind on stuff haha

Well this is a good friend of mine who organized this. The KC car scene is really good. I mean STL can be like that if someone takes the lead and starts it.

Car people in STL are bums. They LITERALLY don’t take their (nice/classic/collectible) cars out unless it’s 73 degrees and sunny. If I told these people that I daily drove my Datsun all last winter, they’d shun me.
I wish we had more car people like KC folks out here in STL.

Well, on the IL side there are car shows very often, but classic ones. You need to come out here meet the other oppos, see some nice ass cars, and have a few beers.

That is hilarious. And now you’re making me want a Civic Si all over again. White with Enkei RPF1s.

Does the TV work okay? I thought you were supposed to transport them in a vertical fashion. When I got my 55” (DLP, used) it was too tall to fit in my Mazda5 and recruited a friend with a Yukon XL to help me move it from Brentwood to my home in McKinley Heights. .
I know what you mean about the car show scene. There seems to be plenty of shops around the STL area that deal in all sorts of classic cars, but none that host any shows. C&C is just too early for me, and I hate going anywhere near Rock Hill...

Seriously curious how nothing fits in a new Civic. Do the seats not fold flat or something? I could fit a mountain bike and camping gear in the back of my ‘99 and still close the trunk.

The trunk is really big but here’s the issue: mine being an LX didn’t have split folding seats... So when you fold the back seat down this is what you get:
The oddly shaped opening sucks and you can’t really get much of anything through it

There’s a bunch of car shows around STL (and St. Charles county), but they’re not well-publicized, and sometimes just take place in a small parking lot in a rather informal but allowable way. My wife and I had to drive up on 94 a few weeks ago and saw a gathering of old hot rods and classics in one lot on one side of the highway, and on the other side what looked like a sudden gathering of ricers. No signs or anything, just small gatherings. I had to dig to find out there was even a monthly C&C around town.

Yep, TV worked perfectly! We only had it on it’s back from the Wal Mart in Kirkwood to my house just a few minutes away. Put it in my wagon and it was in there kinda diagonally but way better than hanging half way out of his trunk haha
C&C actually moved locations. Used to be in Rock Hill but now they’re out at Westport Plaza. It’s great that it moved locations cause the shows are so much bigger and better than they were before the move. Unfortunately the last one of the season was just yesterday morning.

We folded them down but there are these stupid dividers between the seats and the trunk that blocked the TV from sliding all the way in. Really stupid design by Honda if you ask me.

I thought the move to Westport was only temporary, but I guess it worked out for them. Before I was laid off I used to work there, in the gold tower, but even on days when I dragged myself into the office to work on Sunday I got there too late for C&C. But that’s 20 miles from home, and on Sundays I’d rather sleep in...
